Counseling & Therapy in Video now off campus

Counseling and therapy in Video

The Counseling and Therapy in Video database is now available off-campus! It was added to our collections some weeks ago for on-campus use, and now it can be used anywhere.

Overview
Award-winning Counseling and Therapy in Video Volume I contains more than 400 hours of training videos, reenactments, and footage of actual therapy sessions conducted by renowned counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. This classic collection of videos filmed from 1985‒2010 provides an invaluable firsthand look at the realities of working with clients and the challenges associated with putting theoretical concepts into practice.

Content
The collection features prominent therapists such as Jon Carlson, Sue Johnson, Allen Ivey, Insoo Kim Berg, Derald Wing Sue, and many others, as they demonstrate their methods. With a true grounding in multiculturalism and dozens of therapeutic methods and diagnoses, this collection is essential for counseling and therapy programs across the curriculum—in psychology, social work, education, nursing, divinity studies, health, and medicine.

New database! Counseling and Therapy in Video

Good news-- We have a new video database!  Counseling and Therapy in Video (CTIV) from Alexander Street Press was bought with money from a Board of Regents Traditional Enhancement grant awarded this year. The publisher describes it as:

Counseling and Therapy in Video, Volume I provides the largest and richest online collection of video available for the study of counseling, social work, psychotherapy, psychology, and psychiatric counseling. The wealth of video and multiplicity of perspectives in these collections allow students and scholars to see, experience, and study counseling in ways never before possible.

Off campus access may or may not be available. If we can provide it, we'll let you all know.

ERIC Documents Error

We have heard from OCLC, a library company, that unfortunately ERIC documents are experiencing errors at this time:

We have received notice from the ERIC database producer that the full text through ERIC is unavailable until further notice.  Users will get a page saying the PDF files are currently unavailable.  The producer has indicated that they will keep us informed as they work through the problems. We’ll update up as soon as we receive additional information.  Thank you.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and hopefully this matter can be solved soon.

ARTSTOR update

Users of ARTSTOR might notice that some things are different lately. If you've never used ARTSTOR before, it's a good time to try it out, especially if you use Chrome. Here's their email explaining the changes:

Updates to the ARTstor Digital Library
New release

Dear ARTstor User Support and Technical Contacts,

There was an update to the ARTstor Digital Library this week. New changes include:

  • Full support for Chrome browsers.
  • In your image search results, you may now see icons on the lower right-hand corner of the image thumbnail: "P" denotes Personal Collection (for images uploaded by a campus instructor), and "H" Hosted images (for images visible only at your institution).
  • Folders are now nested in two upper level folders: "Private Folders" and "Institutional Folders." "Private Folders" contains folders viewable only by you. "Institutional Folders" contains folders that are viewable by other users at your institution either as "Public" folders or as "Password-protected" folders.

After this update, some users may find that they cannot see their folders or image groups; clearing the browser cache should resolve the issue. Read detailed instructions on how to do this on our help wiki.

And of course, you can contact User Services for more help at userservices@artstor.org.

Kind regards,

ARTstor User Services Team
