Important Security Information from Thomson Reuters

October 24, 2011
Thank you for being a valued customer of Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting.

We would like to advise you that an external Internet hacking attempt affected our http://ria.thomsonreuters.com website. As a result, we would like to inform you that certain account information may have been compromised.

The account information that might have been compromised includes email address, credit card type and credit card information. However, after a thorough investigation, we have concluded that no sensitive personal information, such as credit card numbers or government-issued identification numbers, was compromised. We have no reason to believe that any personal information of yours may have been misused. Furthermore, this incident impacted no subscription-based product sites or logins such as Checkpoint, etc.

As a precaution, we have disabled all passwords of existing accounts on this website and are asking that you reset your password by following the steps below.

  1. Click the Change Password link and follow the prompts. Note: If you prefer to copy and paste the URL into your browser, the URL is http://ria.thomsonreuters.com/UserRegistration/ForgotIDPassword.aspx
  2. You will be sent an e-mail that contains your temporary password. Click the Click here to go to the login area link in the e-mail to enter your User ID and temporary password.
  3. Once logged in, click the Change ID and/or Password link. Follow the instructions on the screen to enter the temporary password and your new password. Note: Make sure you create a unique password that is different from any previous password used on this site.
In addition, please be aware of any e-mail "phishing" attempts from additional parties as they may be fraudulent attempts to glean additional personal information.

Otherwise, we are appropriately taking steps to enhance the security of the site and to prevent reoccurrence.

We regret any inconvenience that this incident may cause you.

Please contact your account representative or our Customer Help Center at 800.431.9025 with any questions or concerns you may have.

Once again, thank you for being a valued customer of Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting.

Sincerely,

David Hoyt

New Database, Credo Reference

We are pleased to say that we have acquired a new reference resource, Credo Reference.

This is an encyclopedic database that finds quick information on a variety of topics. Think of it as an acceptable replacement for Wikipedia. It does much more, however. You can try it out here:

http://ezproxy.louislibraries.org:2048/login?url=http://www.credoreference.com

Off-campus access is likely possible, but has not yet been confirmed.

Access to this resource has been made possible through our library consortium, LOUIS.
